The International Fire and Rescue Sport Competition for the Cup “Friendship” and the prize “Golden assault ladder” was launched in Volgograd

On May 17, 2023, in the city of Volgograd, on the legendary Stalingrad land, International competitions in fire and rescue sports for the Cup “Friendship” and the prize “Golden assault ladder” took place for the first time. The championship is held under the auspices of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

Sberbank PJSC is the general sponsor of International Competitions in fire and rescue sports.

Sports delegations from the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Uzbekistan arrived in the Volgograd region.
On May 18, athletes were able to try out sports equipment, a meeting of the Main Judging Panel and a draw were also held.

Despite the fact that athletes have a very busy schedule of competitions, Volgograd rescuers have prepared sightseeing programs for all guests so that each team can feel the spirit of Volgograd.

All participants can truly be called professional athletes. Many of them have a lot of competitions at different levels, including international ones. Trainings are conducted on an ongoing basis. So, the participant of the Russian national team Ekaterina Chendakova shared her plans and said that the next start of the team is scheduled in Minsk, in a month.

On May 19, on the Lower Terrace of the 62nd Army Embankment, the Grand Opening of the International Competitions in Fire and Rescue Sports for the Cup “Friendship” and the prize “Golden assault ladder” took place. The chief judge of the competitions Dauren Danaev from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Department of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Azad Aliyev, Head of the Minsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus – Sergey Lapanovich, Director of the Executive Committee of the Belarusian Federation of Fire and Rescue Sports – Margarita Andrienko, Vice-President of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers – Wolfgang Prutscher, President of the Federation of Fire and Rescue Sports of Russia – Sergey Kudinov, Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Volgograd Region – Nikolay Lyubavin, Director of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers – Andrey Kalinin, Head of the Department of Service Organization and Combat Readiness of Units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Khurshid Sotiev, Managing Director – Head of the Special Projects Department of Sberbank PJSC – Oleg Semenenko, Director of Work with Special Projects of Sberbank PJSC – Stepan Shamrov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Fire Safety of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Cameroon – Edgar David Peta'Toa Pufong, and the Head of the Sports Relations Department of the Republic of Cameroon – Jean Gaston Tsonga – came to greet participants and guests of the International Competitions.

On the first day of the competitions, men's and women's national teams in fire and rescue sports competed in climbing the assault ladder into the window of the 4th and 2nd floors of the training tower. From the first minutes of the competition, the coherence of all the actions of the athletes, courage and fearlessness in front of the height – brought everyone into a stormy delight. We would especially like to note the professionalism of the girls, who were in no way inferior to men.
In addition to participating teams from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, guests from other countries also observe how the competitions are held. As observers – representatives of Bulgaria, Austria, Azerbaijan and Cameroon. The representative of the Republic of Bulgaria – Varban Petkov, assessed the level of organization of the championship and, as he said, intends to gain experience here.

Director of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers – Andrey Kalinin noted: "Such international competitions in fire and rescue sports are a necessary start in order to prepare for the World Championship, which will be held in Istanbul from August 31 to September 6. This is a sport in the name of saving human life, the basis of combat training. Today our movement is gaining momentum and 24 full-fledged teams will gather in Istanbul, including countries of Africa and the Middle East.

Following the results of the first day of competitions in the discipline of climbing the assault ladder to the 4th floor of the training tower among men, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place – Nikita Ukolov (Republic of Belarus).
2nd place – Artem Malinin (Russian Federation).
3rd place – Anton Tarasevich (Republic of Belarus).

According to the results of the final race in the discipline climbing the assault ladder to the 2nd floor of the training tower among women, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place – Ekaterina Chendakova (Russian Federation).
2nd place – Karina Bochkareva (Russian Federation).
3rd place – Olesya Tsenova (Russian Federation).

Athletes still have a lot of competitive disciplines ahead of them. This includes overcoming a 100-meter obstacle course, a fire relay race, as well as combat deployment.
