Istanbul hosts XXIII International Conference of the International Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers

From November 11 to 15, 2022, the XXIII International Conference of heads of fire and rescue services of ministries, departments, associations, federations of countries, members of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers was held in Istanbul (Republic of Turkey).

The Conference was attended by representatives of fire and rescue services of 22 states. For the first time, representatives of the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Ivory Coast, the Republic of Niger, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took part.

The Conference addressed a number of important issues aimed at the further development of fire and rescue sports, cooperation with countries of the African continent, the Middle East, and the holding of international sporting events in 2023.

The Secretary General of Istanbul Municipality Can Akyn Caglar, President of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers Alexander Chupriian, Head of Istanbul Fire Service Remzi Albayrak, Secretary General of the International Civil Defense Organization Mariatou Yap addressed the participants of the Conference with a welcoming speech.

Andrei Kalinin, Director of the Executive Directorate of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, made a report in which he summed up the results of the work of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers for 2019-2022 and defined tasks for the period of 2023-2026. He also expressed gratitude to the countries that held the world championships in fire and rescue sports.

New world records in the sports disciplines of fire and rescue sports among men, women, boys, juniors, girls and juniors have been approved. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the Russian Federation, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan were awarded the sports titles of judges of the international category in fire and rescue sports. At the moment, the International Federation has 133 judges of the international category. The Plan of the main sports events of the Federation for the next year has been agreed and approved.

As a result of the common voting, the composition of the executive and supervisory bodies and commissions of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers were elected, Alexander Chupriian was elected President of the Federation, for four years, Andrei Kalinin was elected Director of the Executive Directorate of the Federation, Aleksandrs Klitonchiks (Republic of Latvia) was elected Chairman of the Sports and Technical Committee, Margarita Andrienko (Republic of Belarus) was elected Chairman of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee, Natalia Rebrova (Russian Federation) was elected Chairman of the Sports Disciplinary Commission.

Special attention of the participants at the Conference was paid to the organization and holding of the world championships in 2023. Video presentations about the World Championship next year in Istanbul are presented. The Conference approved the regulations on holding the XVIII World Championship among men and the IX World Championship among women in fire and rescue sports from August 31 to September 6, 2023, in Istanbul (Republic of Turkey); the X World Championship among boys and juniors and the VI World Championship among girls and juniors in fire and rescue sports from August 3 to 9, 2023, in Saransk (Russian Federation). The composition of the main judging board of the 2023 World Championships has been approved.

The work of the Sports and Technical Committee, the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee, the Sports and Disciplinary Commission, and the Audit Commission was appreciated by the member countries of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

The highlight of the Conference was the presentation of certificates of entry into the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers of the Republic of Niger, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Cameroon, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Uzbekistan (Fire and Rescue Sport Federations have been established in these countries). The Pirohimika company, known for the development and implementation of the latest technologies and systems in the field of fire safety, has joined the Federation as an associate member.

The President of the Federation presented the heads of the fire and rescue services of the countries, members of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers with medals For the development and support of international friendship among firefighters and rescuers, as well as commemorative plaques for the great work on the preparation and organization of the International Conference to the Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu and the Head of the Fire Service of Istanbul Remzi Albayrak.
