ICDO role in the development of fire-rescue sport

From 4th to 5th of November 2019, an International conference was held in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) on the theme «The role of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) in the development in fire and rescue sport among member countries of the organization». The event was attended by a delegation of the Executive Committee of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers led by President Alexander Chupriyan.

Alexander Chupriyan, as President of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, made a speech on the practical importance of developing fire and rescue sport and the need to popularize them among the population. He noted that this sport is an integral part of preparing firefighters for putting out fires and allows you to effectively improve the professional skills of firefighters.

The Conference was attended by representatives of 15 member countries of the ICDO (Arab and African regions). Civil Defense Leaders of ICDO member countries show great interest to the activities of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

The conference addressed a number of critical issues, in particular, on the need to take the elements in fire and rescue sport as the basis for combat training of the fire and rescue services of the ICDO member countries, as well as the creation of national sports teams to participate in world fire and rescue sport championships.

Andrey Kalinin – Director of the Executive Committee of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, presented a report on the development of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers and its role in the preparation of fire and rescue services of the ICDO member countries for participating in world championships.

In turn, the Acting Secretary General of ICDO – Belkacem Elketroussi, indicated that the development of sport for firefighters and rescuers will create the possibility of active interaction between representatives of different countries of the world as part of their preparation in the field of training for firefighters and rescuers when using firefighting equipment.
