Emergency Rescuer's Day of the Republic of Belarus!
Every year on January 19, the Republic of Belarus celebrates a professional holiday - the Emergency Rescuer's Day!
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus was created in 1994 on the basis of the rescue service detachment - the Republican special detachment for carrying out priority emergency rescue operations, which has been operating since 1991. In 1998, a special militarized fire service was added to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, removed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On January 19, 1999, the President of the country approved the Regulation on the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, which entrusted the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the functions of state administration in the field of prevention and elimination of emergencies, and ensuring fire safety.
The Belarusian rescue service today is about a thousand combat units, which are armed with more than 6,000 pieces of equipment.
Today, 17 special services have been created and are functioning in the structure of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, including firefighting and rescue services, chemical and radiation safety, engineering, diving, medical, explosive, aviation, search and rescue, parachute, pontoon, and others..
