Training seminar on fire and rescue sports with the countries of the African continent via videoconference

In order to popularize and promote fire and rescue sports at the international level, the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers (ISFFR), together with the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO), is working to attract new African countries to join the ranks of full members of the ISFFR.

As a result of the joint cooperation, three countries from the African continent joined the International Sport Federation: the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, the Republic of Niger.

On February 21, 2023, the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, together with the International Civil Defense Organization, organized and conducted a training seminar on fire and rescue sports with the countries of the African continent via videoconference.

The Seminar was attended by: ICDO Secretary General Ms. Mariatou YAP, Director of the ISFFR Andrey KALININ, team od Cameroon led by Ms. NDZI NTSAMA ANGELE, Director General of National office of Civil Protection the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire Kassi Gabin AMANKOU, Director General of the Civil Protection the Republic of the Niger Boubacar BAKO, Director of Civil Protection the Republic of Senegal Abdoulaye NOBA, ISFFR official representative Anicet Gabriel KOTCHOFA, Chairman of the ISFFR Sports and Technical Committee Aleksandrs KLITONCIKS, Chairman of the ISFFR Sports and Disciplinary Commission Natalia REBROVA.

During the meeting, reports were made by Andrey Kalinin - on the organization of the training process and the creation of a national team in Africa, Aleksandrs Klitonciks - on the rules for fire and rescue sports and the regulations for holding competitions.

After the presentations, discussions on various issues were held between the participants of the meeting.

As a result of the meeting, the following recommendations were formulated:

  1. The International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers to send to the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Senegal documents on the membership of the Republic of Senegal in the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.
  2. Communication should be done through ICDO focal point.
  3. The International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers to assist in the installation of a training tower in Abidjan and the organization of African competition prior to the oncoming World Championship in Istanbul.
