A working meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam took place in Hanoi

On June 26, 2025, negotiations between the Executive Directorate of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers (ISFFR) and the leadership of the Department of Fire and Rescue Service of the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (MOP SRV) took place at the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Hanoi. The issues of further cooperation in the field of fire and rescue sport, as well as other formalities in order to complete the necessary steps to join Vietnam in the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers were discussed.

The negotiations were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. According to the foreign colleagues, one of the priority directions of the ISFFR activity is to attract new foreign countries to the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

During the negotiations between the ISFFR Director Andrey Kalinin and Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director General of the Fire and Rescue Service Department of the SRV MOF, the issues of cooperation in the field of fire and rescue sport and the accession of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, which currently unites 34 countries of the world, were discussed. Such a wide geography suggests that fire and rescue sport is rapidly developing to become the Olympic kind of sport.

Following the meeting, a number of prospects for mutually beneficial partnership were discussed, such as:

1. To organize further cooperation between the ISFFR and the SRV MOF in the field of sport movement of firefighters and rescuers in the international community.
2. To promote the development of common work in the field of fire and rescue sport.
3. To work out the issue of holding the World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2028 and the training of the national team of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by foreign specialists (coaches).
4. Consider the possibility of participation the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the events defined by the ISFFR Major Sport Events Plan.
5. Carry out mutual visits of specialists to exchange information on fire and rescue sport and other issues.
6. Represent the interests of fire and rescue sport in international organizations.

On June 30, 2025, a delegation of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers visited the Institute of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Deputy Head Nguyen Thanh Hai said that the Institute of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Hanoi is the part of the structure of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, responsible for training specialists in the field of fire safety and conducting research activities.

Besides, the ISFFR delegation got acquainted with the exhibits of the unique museum of the Institute of Fire Safety of Vietnam.

During the negotiations with the head of the institute, Lieutenant General Le Quang Bon, the parties confirmed the prospects for the cooperation in the field of fire and rescue sport and in the scientific sphere.

Vietnamese colleagues informed about Vietnam's interest for cooperation with the ISFFR, since the events held by ISFFR are the unique platform for exchanging experiences between firefighters and rescuers, including the main directions of the activity in the field of elimination emergencies and familiarization with the latest firefighting and rescue equipment.

This meeting will serve to develop firefighting and rescue sport on the global scale, strengthen friendly ties and cooperation between the ISFFR and Vietnam.
