On June 27, a solemn official opening ceremony of the International Tournament for the Cup of the Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Dynamo Stadium in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan). The tournament was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Sports Federation and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of fire and rescue sport in Kazakhstan.
In addition to the hosts, national teams from the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Turkey, Mongolia, and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the competition.
The event was opened by Murat Daribayev, Deputy Mayor of Almaty. Welcoming the organizers and participants of the international tournament, he expressed confidence that the upcoming competition would be held at the highest level and would become a true celebration for rescue athletes.
In his welcoming speech, First Deputy Chairman of the Emergency Situations Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Colonel of Civil Protection Sabit Bitayev, emphasized that the sport has practical significance, as it incorporates elements, techniques, and methods used in real firefighting operations.
Thus, every fraction of a second gained on the track translates into sharper skills and greater professionalism when it comes to saving lives. Andrey Kalinin, Director of the Executive Committee of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, addressed the tournament participants with wishes and words of encouragement.
The championship was organized with the support of Askar Omurkulov, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Council of the Sports Society “Dynamo”, and Abil Donbayev, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sport of Almaty.
The opening program included the final part of the most creative discipline – hook ladder climbing through the window to the 4th floor of the training tower (for women – the window of the 2nd floor).
